Active Carbon Filters are used to drastically remove organic traces from water (or aqueous fluids). While the Coalescer filters can only separate Hydrocarbons, Carbon filters can also eliminate them making the treated water clean and suitable for using in dedicated processes.

Carbon Filters can be also backwashed with a reverse flow using the same filtered feed, to remove trapped particles, to prevent clogging and pressure loss, and to remove carbon dust produced during operation.

Activated Carbon Filters are also designed for the filtration of gas to remove vapours as hydrogen sulphide, ammonia, amine as generally found in biogas field.
